Springing Forward

April 9, 2015

Spring has sprung! (or at least technically according to the calendar) and so has my obsessiveness with changing my home for the seasons. My fiance and I have been in our current home for a little over a year now and I have been stuggling with our living room layout since move in day. The easiest solution for furniture placement when you just don't know what to do is the dreaded "wall line up" . That's right, everything I own just lined up against each wall. Not only does this falsely make you think the room looks "bigger"  but you end up with that box like BLAH room.

First order of business. Move it. All of it. Or as much as I can, into the dining room to reassess my space. I kept the largest pieces, my aggressively large TV and love seat since they will serve as the room's focal points.

My goal was to try and let as much light in through the living room windows, which didn't leave me with a lot for options for furniture placement for that unsightly TV or the love seat. My absolute FAV look for a living room is the floating sofa. It creates such a designated space for the living area while still giving you an open and airy feel for the space. I'm telling you my living room doubled in size, just from moving my couch!

As a stager, I'm not sure why I didn't do this a year ago! I'm sure alot of it has to do with taking a year to get my fiance on board with the process of untangling/unhooking our entertainment center. But alas, here we are, finished product that I am more than THRILLED with!!
